Death and New Life

This is pretty deep picture with a very clear meaning. The leading lines all point to the little grass growing out of the stump. The flat angle gives an effect of understanding how the little grasslings are viewing the world compared to the huge world around them. The medium shot gives a good view of the stump and the grass both on it and under it as well as a good view of the backgound which brings the focus on the stump and primarily on the little grass growing on it. The natural lighting makes it more effective by showing thats how it really is. The depth of vision has a deep effect on the viewer by making the background visible yet not focused and the foreground in focus.

I think this is a great picture with a great message. One's eyes immediately look to the foreground, where there is grass and a stump of a tree. Out of the stump, there appears to be grass growing, which symbolizes a rebirth of sorts of the dead tree. The medium shot used gives you a sense of where it is, and in the background there is a lake and forest on the other side. I really like how the background is blurry while the foreground is sharply focused.
